Srinagar, Jun 20 (KNO): The Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) on Friday extended a warm welcome to the pilgrims of the annual Amarnath Yatra, reaffirming Kashmir’s age-old tradition of hospitality, communal harmony, and support for spiritual tourism. Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, KTMF President Mohammad Yaseen Khan according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the annual pilgrimage holds deep spiritual and cultural significance and is a powerful symbol of the Valley’s long-standing values of interfaith brotherhood. “From guiding pilgrims through the mountains to offering food and shelter, Kashmiris have always served as protectors of this sacred journey,” Khan said, adding that the Yatra is not just a religious event; it reflects the centuries-old legacy of inclusiveness and hospitality. “KTMF and the entire Kashmiri business community welcome the Yatra with open arms,” Khan said. Khan also urged the administration to ensure that pilgrims are able to interact freely with the local population. “Security is essential, but it should not isolate the Yatra from its social and cultural surroundings. Pilgrims should be encouraged to walk through our markets, talk to locals and experience the warmth Kashmiris are known for,” he added. He also called for improved facilities, especially for elderly and differently-abled pilgrims, including affordable and frequent helicopter services, medical aid centers, and eco-friendly lodging to safeguard the fragile Himalayan environment. Highlighting the role of the business community, Khan said KTMF has always played a key role in ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Yatra. “Our members stand ready to assist in every possible way. Even in difficult times, we have supported pilgrims, and we will continue to do so,” he said. “We appeal to all pilgrims to come without fear or hesitation and experience the real Kashmir, a land of warmth, culture, and brotherhood,” Yaseen Khan, President said—(KNO)
